In 2022, Papasay purchased “Big Virgin Island”, located on the southeast corner of Lake Nipigon, just north of the entrance to the Nipigon River. It is 10 acres of land in the middle of the island, where a former lodge once stood. From Sand Point, it is a 10–15-minute boat ride.

BNA is very interested in developing this island. Firstly, we envision it as a place for BNA’s Family Well-Being to do programming for its members. This could focus on Elder’s retreats, or cultural teachings for youth. Secondly, as part of BNA’s long-term economic vision in the tourism sector, BNA is looking to develop this property to complement the development of its 5-Star Eco-Lodge. This island’s development is an exciting opportunity for BNA.
