- Consultation Protocol
A Consultation Protocol is very important for ensuring that the community leadership and membership are consulted on developments that could affect their Aboriginal or Treaty Rights. BNA’s Consultation Protocol is now up to date. We regularly respond to requests for consultation from both government and industry and will request meetings when it is required. When a matter is of high significance in its potential to affect the rights of our members, proponents are asked to come to a community meeting and explain their projects to the membership.
BNA will do its best to continue responding to requests for consultation from government and industry as required. Our First Nation expects to be consulted on matters within the Lake Nipigon watershed, as BNA resides on the southeast shores of Lake Nipigon. With the sheer number of consultation requests that the community receives, BNA will only respond to those matters that impact the community and its members.
